“You earned it…. So claim it!”

As April 15th - tax day - approaches, the Oregon Center for Public Policy urges organizations, businesses, state and local governments, and others working with low-income Oregonians to help increase the use of tax credits for working families. This year is especially important because it’s the first year that families with childcare costs can fully claim the Oregon Working Family Child Care Credit.

Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski has recorded radio and TV announcements promoting the family friendly tax credits, which are an important resource for low-income working Oregonians. Many families don’t apply for the credits simply because they don’t know about them.

The Governor’s ads, as well as camera-ready materials explaining the credits, were developed by the Oregon Child Care Resource and Referral Network and the National Women’s Law Center. Some of the materials are available in Spanish, as well as English.

The Oregon Center for Public Policy is a Silverton, Oregon-based non-profit research institute that uses research and analysis to advance policies and practices that improve the economic and social prospects of low- and moderate-income Oregonians, the majority of Oregonians.
