REWARD HARD WORK — Improving the state EITC will supplement the wages of working families, especially those with children, helping them get ahead. One in seven income tax filers in Oregon will benefit.
HELP COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT OREGON — Increasing the EITC will benefit low-income communities across the state, and dollars will be spent locally on food, clothing, and other necessities, as well expenses for getting ahead such as car repairs and education.
INCREASE OREGON INVESTMENT IN OPPORTUNITY — By increasing the Oregon Earned Income Tax Credit to 18 percent of the federal EITC, Oregon will move from one of the lowest state earned income tax credits (6 percent) to the middle of the pack.
CREATE FAIRNESS FOR WORKING FAMILIES — Increasing the EITC will help reduce the unfair higher tax burden on Oregon’s low- and moderate-income working families.
