What Do the GOP's Proposed Budget Cuts Mean for Oregon and the Nation?

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has just released a report quantifying the state-by-state impact from budget cuts put forth by U.S. House Republicans. Specifically, the report examines the amount that states stand to lose from the House GOP's plan to cut current-year (2011) non-security discretionary funding by 13.8 percent, totaling $64 billion.

What does the House GOP plan mean for Oregon? Our state stands to lose $17.6 million in K-12 education, $66 million in Pell Grants, $21 million in funding for clean water and drinking water projects -- and much more.
