Oregon Minimum Wage Rises by 10 Cents on New Year’s Day
Oregon’s lowest-paid workers get a small boost with the start of the New Year, when the state’s minimum hourly wage rises by 10 cents to $8.50.
A strong minimum wage is good for low-wage workers and good for Oregon’s economy. The extra dollars help low-income families make ends meet. They also help maintain and create jobs, because low-income earners tend to spend that money quickly and locally.

Health Reform Act Rings in New Year with Good News for Seniors
As a result of the federal Affordable Care Act, the New Year ushers in changes to Medicare that will help seniors stay healthy and lower their health care costs.
The benefits to seniors that take effect in 2011 demonstrate one of the many ways the Affordable Care Act is improving health care for Americans.
