Undocumented workers generate up to $552 million in local, state and federal taxes, according to a study released Wednesday.

The Oregon Center for Public Policy released the report identifying the economic impact of the state's 110,000 to 220,000 undocumented worker.

The report estimates undocumented workers in Oregon earn between $2.3 billion and $4.5 billion in annual wages, figures that should inform public debate about undocumented workers in the state. The report estimates that half of the earnings of undocumented workers is subject to taxes. By that measure, OCPP calculates that undocumented workers pay up to $309 million in taxes while their employers pay up to $243 million in unemployment insurance, Social Security and Medicare taxes.
